58-Year Old with Mesothelioma to Receive $2.75 Million
February 17, 2007 - A former James Hardie company employee of the subsidiary company Amaca PTY Ltd, that once used asbestos materials has won $2.75 million after contracting mesothelioma. Fifty-eight year old Tim Lacone described the company as cowards that left him to die in the gutter. He used asbestos sheeting from the buildings material company between around 1967 and 1974, this according to reports.
Mr. Lacone was exposed to dust and fibers from the carcinogenic substance while using their asbestos sheeting and subsequently contracted mesothelioma, an asbestos related cancer that shortens lifespan considerably.
The plaintiff stated: "James Hardie is a gutless, cowardly company that ran away from this country like a hit and run driver who ran away from maybe your loved one and left them dying a hideous death in the gutter."
